HIV Life Cycle

In this module, we will learn how HIV uses our immune cells to make more copies of itself. We will describe each stage of HIV replication using an easy format to aid memorization.

After completing this modules, learners will be able to:

  • Describe the steps of HIV replication using the memory aid AFRITAB
  • Communicate how the HIV life cycle (VLC) works
  • Explain how HIV damages the immune system
  • Help clients understand basic concepts about how HIV infection affects the body
